We visited Clyne Gardens in Swansea for Charlottes Urban Kids / Lifestyle photo shoot. Clyne Gardens has to be one of my most favourite locations. There is so much opportunity within walking distance and plenty of tree cover should it rain, and if you’re from Wales you know it does rain quite a lot!

Huge thanks to Charlotte’s mum for helping with the reflector and also to her Dad for being my voice activated light stand for the day.

Charlotte was a star and a definite model in the making.

Sarah and Andrew Engagement Shoot

Sarah & Andrew Engagement Photography Session

The morning was a very cold start, I had left the house with plenty of ice outside but luckily the engagement shoot was at Langland Bay, Swansea so all that sea air managed to keep the ice at bay! Sarah & Andrew arrived and both looked fantastic, they are such a lovely couple and I’m really looking forward to their wedding day!

I now include the engagement shoot with all new packages for 2012, it gives an opportunity to work together, get to know each other a little better before my clients big day and also allows me to help the couple relax and for them to know what to expect on the wedding day.

Here is a sneak preview of their engagement session. We started at Langland Bay then headed over to Caswell Bay which is just around the corner.

Baby and Newborn Photographer

It was a pleasure to meet Shaun and Sarah and especially to meet their newest family member Ellia. Ellia was one little girl who just loved to move and wriggle around but was good as gold for putting up with her photo shoot.

Strady Park Hotel Llanelli

My day started at the Salvation Army Citadel in Llanelli capturing the guests as they arrived and waiting for Neil to turn up in a very nice red Porche with his best man and soon to be brother in law.

When Caroline arrived, she was wearing a beautiful dress with the back in purple with embroidered patterns, it was gorgeous and she looked fantastic.

After the ceremony we then headed over to a public park near to the Strady Park Hotel and took a lovely stroll around the park making good use of the surrounding areas. There is also a very grand house situated in the middle of the park which is called “Mansion House” and made a wonderful backdrop. The house also had beautiful archways and pillars outside the house too and those always make a great photographic opportunity for portrait photography.

After about 45 minutes we headed over to the hotel to get a very important shot which took us to the roof top of the hotel that overlooked Llanelli itself. There was only one way to tackle this shot so I panned multiple frames to make a gorgeous panoramic photograph of them both which you can see one of the shots below. I would love to see it blow up on a 30 foot wide canvas! Anyone have very wide walls?

Sketty Hall Swansea

It had been a while since my last wedding at the Sketty Hall in Swansea and the Venue is still as beautiful as I last remember it. The wedding was perfectly coordinated by the lovely Suzette and the staff were all very helpful and always smiling to make Kay and Jonathans day a very special one.

After the ceremony, we made our way outside for the group photos and the sun was beaming down, it was like the middle of the summer! We then had a bit of fun with the confetti shots and made our way further into the grounds for a brief walk on the outskirts of Sketty Park which is right next door then headed back to make good use of the beautiful surrounding gardens.

Kay and Jonathan were brilliant and so were the guests. Here is their sneak preview of their wedding photography photos from their wonderful day.

Baby and Newborn Photographer

Photographing babies especially newborns, you just never know what is going to happen but after a while, a very long while Ruby eventually settled down and fell into the much wanted deep sleep and then it’s time to take lots and lots of photos.

Baby and Newborn Photographer

Anwen is the lovely daughter of Cathryn and John, a previous wedding couple of mine and what a full head of hair she had already at 8 days old.

Taking photos of newborns can be a slow process or should I say waiting for them to fall into the deep slumber to get the sleepy baby photos can sometimes be slow and patience is vital. It was three hours after I arrived and Anwen still did not want to fall into a deep sleep. Every time we tried to position her she would wake up.

I had my iPad with me so as a last resort, I found an app that played sounds from the womb and within minutes Anwen was fast asleep. That does go to prove there really is an app for everything.

Craig-y-Nos Castle Wedding

As a wedding photographer, I really enjoy photographing weddings at venues that have incredible surroundings and Craig-y-Nos Castle is one of my very favorite venues. It’s one of the venues that I just love returning too time and time again.

The castle is situated in Panycae, South Wales and is a stone throw away from the beautiful Craig-y-Nos Country Park and also very near the Dan-yr-Ogof showcaves. I’ve never taken a Bride and Groom yet to the showcaves for their photos yet but I always take them into the country park as the photographic opportunity is endless there!

Lowri and Scott’s service was held in Adelina Patti theatre which is a grade one listed opera house theatre and has very striking decor with lovely warm lighting. It’s a very romantic and unique venue to get married in.

Lowri and Scott are a lovely couple and fun to work with. I’ve never seen so many children at a wedding before and I’m sure there were more children than adults there but they all made for some great photography.

Castle Hotel Neath

The groom Jason and myself go back a long way when we were teenagers and it was brilliant to be asked to photograph his wedding. I had only met his wife a few months before the wedding day and they both make an amazing couple.

This wedding was a little different to the other weddings I’ve photographed, it was my first full on Rock and Roll Wedding with “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica being their song choice for the first dance.

The Neath Castle ruins is only a couple of minutes walk through Neath Town Centre, this is where we took the group photos and photos of Jan and Jason. It was all very rock and roll and I enjoyed every minute of it. We even had guests back flipping off walls, I didn’t know what was going to happen next, it was great fun!

We were really lucky with the weather, about 20 minutes after the photos were finished the heavens opened up and we had a torrential downpour. The rain was so bad, a roof collapsed from the weight of the rain in a nearby Morrison. The venue itself suffered from multiple leaks in the function room just before the wedding breakfast was served, flooding in the toilets, loss of electricity in the bar and flooding in the kitchen. With all this going on, nothing phased Jan and Jason at all and the day turned out to be even more Rock and Rock than anyone could imagine.

Castle Hotel Neath

Sarah & Michael were married in the Castle Hotel, Neath. The Castle Hotel is a venue I’ve been photographing weddings at more and more recently and the location of the venue is very close to the Gnoll Park which is where we went to for their photographs. It’s a beautiful place with a wealth of amazing photographic opportunity and if you’ve never been to the Gnoll Park before and your in the area, I can highly recommend it and if you have kids there are lots for them to do too.

Sarah & Michael were fantastic on the day and an absolute joy to work with.
